The Promenade Youth and Junior Choirs began life in 2008. Many members of the original Junior Choir still regularly support concerts given by the current Youth Choir. Numerous members have gone on to study music or singing at conservatoires and universities, and gaining choral scholarships. Others have become members of the National Children's Choirs of Great Britain.
The Youth and Junior Choirs are still at the heart of the Promenade Choirs. They put on a concert each term and perform at various festivals and events through the year. The choirs' repertoire is rich and varied - ranging from major choral works such as Handel's Messiah and Fauré's Requiem to Rutter's The Reluctant Dragon, pop ballads and songs from contemporary musicals.
Christopher also runs the Promenade Girls' Choir, which puts on a concert most Christmases after a short but intensive rehearsal period. This choir is for experienced musicians, with sight reading experience.
The Promenade Project Choir is a small ad hoc chamber choir that joins in concerts a few time a year following a brief but intense rehearsal period. This choir aims to provide experienced singers from the community with good sight reading skills the opportunity to work at high level in an intimate setting.
Widening his remit, Christopher frequently works with other choirs, providing technical expertise in workshops.
