The Promenade Youth Choir

Members of the choir perform at St Peter's Church

The Promenade Youth Choir in concert.

The Promenade Youth Choir caters for singers of secondary school age - 11 to 20 (and beyond if members wish to stay). Membership is open to all without audition and no previous experience or musical knowledge is assumed. Repertoire is always in three or four parts and members are supported in working with music and following scores. Members are also given guidance to help them develop technically as singers. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, but aims at stretching the abilities of its members. The resulting standards are high.

The Youth and Junior Choirs put on a concert each term and perform at various festivals and events through the year.

The choirs' repertoire is rich and varied, including music from renaissance to modern, accompanied by piano, organ or instrumental ensembles, ranging from major choral works such as Handel's Messiah and Fauré's Requiem to pop ballads and music from musicals -such as Phantom of the Opera and Wicked.

Christopher also runs a Girls' Choir, which puts on a concert every Christmas after a short but intensive rehearsal period.

Widening his remit, Christopher also works with other choirs, providing technical expertise in workshops.
